Akwa head coach, Fatai Osho cut a relieved figure after the Promise Keepers defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 at the Eket Township Stadium on Sunday.
Seyi Oguntayo’s blistering shot from outside the box won the game for the former champions.
The win was the Akwa United’s third of the season.
Osho was excited to see his side pick maximum points against one of the in-form teams in the Nigeria Premier Football League this season.
“This victory is inspiring because for some time now we have been playing well but results were not forthcoming and it was frustrating.
“What we picked today against Lobi Stars is encouraging because we want to sustain this tempo in subsequent matches,” Osho told the club’s media after the game.
“It’s not just about winning this game at home, we have to be more consistent because that is the only way we can swim out of where we are on the log. We have to go for points away from home,” he added.
The Uyo club remain in bottom half (17th position) of the table despite the win.
Osho’s side will be on the road to Heartland in their next game.
