Nigeria defender, Kenneth Omeruo insists his compatriot Ademola Lookman should win the 2024 CAF Player of the Year award, DAILY POST reports.
Lookman was the star of the show as Atalanta defeated Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final of the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday night.
The tricky winger scored all three goals for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in the thrilling contest.
The 26-year-old entered the history books as the first African to score a hat-trick in the final of a major European competition.
Lookman also played a key role in Nigeria’s second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations earlier in the year.
The former Everton and Leicester City player scored three goals in seven outings at the competition.
Reacting to his heroics against Bayer Leverkusen, Omeruo wrote on his social media handle:”@CAF_Online your Arica Player of the Year..@ALookman_ top player.”
