Okuama killing: ‘We’ll bring perpetrators to justice’ – Army chief vows

The Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, has warned that the Nigerian Army will smoke out and punish those behind insecurity in Nigeria.

Musa issued the warning during the burial of the 17 soldiers killed in Okuama, Delta State, at the military cemetery in Abuja on Wednesday.

He declared that the evil acts of those behind the killing would not go unpunished.

According to Musa: “We will honour your memory by continuing the fight against those who seek to undermine our peace and security; we will remain steadfast to build a nation worthy of your sacrifice, this sacrifice will not go in vain.

“The loss we feel today is immeasurable, but we must not allow it to dim the light of our renewed hope within us. Let’s use this moment as a rallying cry to come together as a nation to support our Armed Forces and work tirelessly to save Nigeria from the grip of criminals. Let’s build a nation where everybody can live without fear.

“To the men and women who continue to serve in the Armed Forces, I express my deepest gratitude for your dedication to duty; your commitment to defending our nation in the face of great peril is commendable.

“To the perpetrators of this violence who seek to sow division and fear among our people, take this from me: our resolve will not wither. We will hunt you down, bring you to justice, and we will restore peace to our dear nation. Your evil actions may cause pain and suffering, but they will never extinguish the unity and resilience that burn within us.

“Whoever is supporting them directly or indirectly, we will smoke them out and those supporting them will face the music.”
