Oil tanker explodes in Port Harcourt

A tanker exploded on the Obiri-Ikwerre flyover along the East-West Road in Port Harcourt around 9:30 am on Tuesday.

The tanker, reportedly carrying Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG, toppled over and burst into flames as it attempted to maneuver the roundabout.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion’s effect was felt kilometers away, with residents mentioning shattered windows and vibrations.

Currently, the Fire Service is working to extinguish the fire, surrounded by onlookers and heavy security.

Eyewitnesses noted no casualties, as the driver managed to escape just before the blast.

There was no official statement from the authorities at the time of filing this report.
