Oborevwori enjoins politicians to serve with humility

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on political officeholders to keep serving the people with humility.

The governor made the call on Sunday at the thanksgiving service in honour of Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emeka Nwaobi, at St. Paul’s Catholic Cathedral Church, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.

Oborevwori, who described Nwaobi as a good man, urged him to continue serving God with humility and to use his position to bring the people of Aniocha North together for the good of the local government area.

“As were coming here this morning, we passed through the Ogwashi-Uku Stadium, where we came for PDP governorship primaries in 2006.

“I passed through that as a delegate then and today I passed through it as Governor of Delta State. It is only God that can do a thing like that and it is good to give thanks to Him for whatever happens because if Okowa had become governor in 2007, perhaps I wouldn’t have been governor today,” he said.

In his remark, Nwaobi expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori and the party leadership for finding him worthy to serve as Majority Leader of the House.

He pledged his unalloyed loyalty and commitment to the Speaker and members of the House and urged his Aniocha North constituents, particularly Issele-Uku kingdom, to continue supporting PDP for more dividends of democracy.

The thanksgiving service was attended by Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme; immediate past governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, and his wife Edith; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, and his wife, Timiebi; Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze; Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Arthur Akpowowo, and his wife; the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olorogun Kingsley Esiso; and members of the Delta State House of Assembly, among others.
