Obi Mikel expresses concerns about Chelsea star’s dip in form

Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has voiced concern over Raheem Sterling’s drop in form this season.

Sterling moved from Manchester City last summer for a whopping £47 million fee.

But the England forward has so far struggled to maintain his best form in his 18 months with the Blues.

Sterling scored only six goals in the League last season.

Although he has already equalled that tally, he has failed to produce the same level of performance that made him a feared attacker while he played with Manchester City and Liverpool.

In Chelsea’s recent Carabao Cup final, Sterling failed to make much impact and was taken off in the 67th minute for Christopher Nkunku.

Obi Mikel, speaking on the Obi One Podcast, stated that Sterling was a ‘shadow of himself’ this season and criticized him for moving away from the low center of gravity, making him an easy player to pass.

“I think he is miles off it to be honest at this point,” Obi Mikel said on the Obi One Podcast.

“He is not the player that we saw at Manchester City or the player that we were used to watching. A low centre of gravity, a player a bit like [Eden] Hazard.”
