NSCDC arrests two for alleged serial robbery, burglary, theft in Kwara

Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has successfully dismantled a notorious burglary syndicate allegedly responsible for a series of break-ins at warehouses, stores, and supermarkets in Apalara Area, along Al-Hikma University Road in Ilorin, the state capital.

A statement by the spokesman of the command, Ayoola Michael Shola, in Ilorin on Wednesday, disclosed that “on Monday, May 13, 2024, acting on reliable intelligence, crack detectives from the command’s tracking unit apprehended two suspects, Garuba Kabir, 28, and Nasir Raheem, 30.

“The arrests followed reports from several shop owners in the Apalara area, who had complained about repeated burglaries resulting in the loss of valuable items worth millions of naira.

“The suspects had recently targeted four shops along Al-Hikma University and New Yidi Road, Irewolede in Ilorin, stealing goods of significant value.

“Further investigation led the detectives to the gang’s storage location, where they recovered stolen goods, including food items, phone accessories, and solar gadgets,” the statement added.

The state commandant, Umar Mohammed, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to eradicating criminal activities in the state.

He further called on the public to support the command by providing credible information, which is crucial in the ongoing effort to prevent and tackle crime effectively.
