NSA Ribadu denies providing air transport for deposed Kano emir

The National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Saturday, denied claims that he provided air transport for the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero, to return to the state.

DAILY POST recalls that Governor Abba Yusuf had reinstated Lamido Sanusi as the 16th Emir of Kano, on Friday.

Following Sanusi’s reinstatement, the Kano State deputy governor, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, claimed Ribadu provided a private jet to aid the return of the deposed emir, Aminu Ado-Bayero, back to Kano State.

The former emir was smuggled into Kano city last night in an attempt to forcefully return him to the palace two days after being deposed.

In a brief interview at the emir’s palace in Gidan Rumfa, Gwarzo claimed that the NSA arranged for two aircraft to transport the sacked monarch back to the state.

Reacting, Ribadu denied the allegation, describing it as false.

The spokesman of ONSA, Mallam Zakari Mijinyawa, insisted that Ribadu did not provide the aircraft that returned the sacked emir to Kano.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, he said: “I read the comments on social media, it is untrue.

“The NSA did not provide air transport to anyone to Kano.

“Political actors should desist from misinforming the public as law enforcement officials in the state strive to maintain peace and order.”
