NPFL: Rivers United deserved maximum points against Heartland – Finidi

Rivers United head coach, Finidi George says his side deserved maximum points from Saturday’s home win against Heartland, DAILY POST reports.

The Port Harcourt side defeated the visitors 3-1 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

It was Rivers United’s first victory of the season, while Heartland, who are under the tutelage of former Super Eagles winger, Emmanuel Amuneke remain winless.

Kabir Abdullahi bagged a brace for Rivers United, while new signing Taofeek Otaniyi was also on target.

Christian Molokwu scored Heartland’s only goal of the game.

“It was a good game, we started with a high tempo and after that goal the tempo dropped and Heartland) started playing, unfortunately, they got that goal and we were furious about it.

“We have to ginger the boys, especially in the second half,” Finidi said during his interaction with the media after the game.

“The second half was for us; they couldn’t do much apart from one or two breaks they had; we controlled the game, and overall, we deserved to win.

“The team is practically new, so we have been working with the players tactically and technically, and they are responding.”
