NPFL rearrange matchday 18 fixtures for AFCON opener

The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, has rescheduled all matchday 18 fixtures.

The NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, disclosed this in a memo to the clubs.

Owumi said the rearrangement was necessitated due to the commencement of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

He urged the clubs to ensure all necessary logistics are put in place for hitch free games.

Rangers v Gombe United, Abia Warriors v Doma United, Heartland v Kwara United and Sunshine Stars v Niger Tornadoes fixtures originally scheduled for Sunday 14th January have been moved to Saturday 13th January.

Fixtures involving Sporting Lagos v Shooting Stars, Bayelsa United v Bendel Insurance, Rivers United v Akwa United, Katsina United v Remo Stars, Lobi Stars v Kano Pillars and Plateau United v Enyimba have all been moved to Monday 15th January 2023.

Cote d’Ivoire will take on Guinea Bissau in the AFCON opener.

Nigeria will face Equatorial Guinea in their opening game of the competition on Sunday.
