Ismael Seriki scored the decisive goal as Bendel Insurance extended their unbeaten streak to four games after a 1-0 win over Heartland at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
Seriki hit the target seven minutes from time.
Bendel Insurance moved to eighth place on the table following the win.
Heartland remain in 19th position and will need to win all six of their remaining games to guarantee their safety.
At the Pantami Township Stadium, Kwara United held their host, Doma United, to a 0-0 draw.
