NPFL: Abia Warriors, Heartland adopt Enyimba Stadium as temporary home ground

Heartland and Abia Warriors have selected the Enyimba International Stadium as their alternative home ground for the second half of the season.

Both teams’ original home grounds, the Dan Anyiam Stadium and the Umuahia Township Stadium, were suspended by the Nigeria Premier Football League following their poor state of the playing surface.

NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi announced this in a letter sent to the clubs.

The two clubs, in separate responses, have now elected to play at the neighbouring Enyimba Stadium.

The choices have been accepted by the league body, as fixtures will be rearranged to accommodate hosting three league games at the stadium in Aba.

“The decision is a result of the poor condition of the playing pitch at the Umuahia Township Stadium,” he wrote in the letter.

“We have a mechanism for continuous appraisal of club licencing requirements and at any point we find any club defaulting, appropriate remedial measures will be taken.”

The second round of the NPFL season will resume next month.
