No immediate plans to congratulate Trump on U.S. election victory – Russia

The Kremlin has announced that it has no immediate plans to congratulate Donald Trump on his election victory, citing ongoing tensions and a “historically low” relationship with the United States.

Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Moscow continues to view the U.S. as an “unfriendly country” due to its backing of Ukraine in the ongoing conflict.

Peskov explained that while Moscow is closely monitoring developments and statements from American politicians, the current state of U.S.-Russia relations leaves little room for optimism.

“The situation between our two nations is such that it’s hard to imagine it getting any worse,” he stated.

The Kremlin also pointed out that the United States is “directly and indirectly involved in a war against our state.”

Trump’s recent victory over Kamala Harris has seen congratulations pour in from leaders worldwide, though Russia’s restrained response marks a notable exception.

While Trump previously sought improved U.S.-Russia relations during his first term, it remains uncertain how his second non-consecutive term could impact the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
