NLC: Protesters storm  over high cost of living in Minna

Members of the Niger State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Tuesday stormed the State House of Assembly over economic difficulties and the high cost of living being experienced in the country.

They joined their counterparts in large numbers across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja to commence a two-day protest declared over the hardship.

This followed the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the Federal Government by the trade unions to implement measures against the widespread hardship.

Members of all the affiliate unions started their protest from the Labour House along IBB Road, terminated at the Niger State House of Assembly Complex in Minna, the state capital.

At the house, the Speaker, Hon Abdul Malik Sarkin Daji commended the NLC leadership for the peaceful conduct of their protest while assuming that their grievances would be delivered to the appropriate quarters in the state.

He also assured the protesters that their demands would be tabled at the plenary.
