NiMet forecasts 3 days sunshine, cloudiness across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has predicted sunshine and cloudiness from Monday to Wednesday across the nation.

NiMet`s weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja anticipated sunny skies on Sunday with cloud patches over the northern region.

It envisaged isolated thunderstorms over parts of Taraba state during the morning hours and localised thunderstorms with rains over parts of Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna and Taraba states.

It said cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are anticipated over the North Central region with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Benue state during the morning hours.

In the afternoon/evening hours, localised thunderstorms should prevail over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Plateau, Kwara and Nasarawa states.

Cloudy skies are anticipated over the southern states with chances of morning thunderstorms with rains over parts of Abia, Ebonyi, Ondo, Delta, Lagos, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.

As predicted, thunderstorms with rains are expected over parts of Imo, Abia, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Enugu, Edo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states later in the day.

The agency anticipated sunny skies on Tuesday with cloud patches over the northern region with prospects of isolated thunderstorms with rains over parts of Adamawa and Taraba states during the morning hours.

It predicted isolated thunderstorms with rains over parts of Kaduna, Kebbi, Zamfara, Bauchi, Borno, Adamawa and Taraba states later in the day.

The North Central region, the agency said is expected to be cloudy with interval of sunshine with chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi and Benue state during the morning hours.

In the afternoon/evening hours, isolated thunderstorms with rains are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara Kogi and Plateau states.

Cloudy skies with prospects of isolated thunderstorms with rains are envisaged over parts of Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states during the morning hours.

NiMet anticipated isolated thunderstorms with rains over parts of Enugu, Imo, Abia, Oyo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Edo, Osun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Rivers states later in the day.

According to NiMet, cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is anticipated over the northern region with prospects of isolated thunderstorms with rains over parts of Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa and Taraba states during the morning hours.

Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms with rains are envisaged over parts of Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara, Borno, Taraba, Adamawa, Sokoto, Jigawa, Katsina, and Kaduna states during the afternoon and evening hours.

Cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are expected over the North Central region with prospects of isolated thunderstorms with rains over parts of Plateau state during the morning hours.

Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms with rains are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara and Nasarawa states.

NiMet envisaged cloudy atmosphere over the South with prospects of isolated thunderstorms with rains over parts of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Lagos states during the morning hours.

It forecast isolated thunderstorms with rains over parts of Oyo, Ekiti. Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom states later in the day.

Strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur, public should take adequate precaution.

Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports and forecast from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
