1. Records of all Point of Sale (PoS) transactions are to be submitted every month henceforth, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said on Thursday. The apex bank has already directed two licensed Payment Terminal Service Aggregators (PTSAs) – Nigeria Interbank Settlement System PIc (NIBSS) and Unified Payment Services Limited (UPSL) – to carry out the directive.

2. Nigerian Governors are standing united in their support for victims of the devastating flooding in Maiduguri and Jere in Borno State. On Thursday, they pledged food support and commended the Federal Government and the Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum for immediately rising to the occasion, thereby mitigating the losses.

3. Bandits have attacked Kurfi General Hospital in Kurfi local government area of Katsina State, shooting a watchman and abducting four women, including the wife of one of the health officials on duty. A reliable source from the area said that three of the bandits who entered the hospital around 10:45am unarmed, later engaged the guardsman who intercepted them to inquire about their mission at the hospital.

4. Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) on Thursday commenced a meeting to discuss the state of the party and the crisis rocking the Rivers State chapter. The meeting was held at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja ahead of preparation for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, later in the month.

5. Bandits have attacked construction workers along Funtua-Gusau highway in Zamfara State, killing seven people, including three soldiers escorting foreign engineers. The incident occurred at Yandoton-Tsafe, Tsafe local government area of Zamfara state, around 9am, on Thursday.

6. The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it pulled out of the National Peace Accord for the September 21 governorship election because of alleged bias by the police. State chairmen and candidates of 17 participating political parties signed the peace accord, while chairman of the PDP, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, and the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, although present, declined to sign.

7. President Bola Tinubu was warmly received on Wednesday in London by His Majesty King Charles III at Buckingham Palace for a private meeting, highlighting the enduring and cherished relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. This will be the two leaders’ first meeting since they met in Dubai at the COP 28 Climate Summit last year.

8. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and the Dangote Petroleum Refinery are wrapping up discussions on crude oil sales by NNPCL to the Dangote refinery in naira and the buy-back of refined petroleum products from the $20bn plant in naira. Parties in the deal may conclude discussions next week, the Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, Devakumar Edwin, declared on Thursday.

9. Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed following a fire that gutted the GSM village around Kpata Market in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital. It was gathered that the fire outbreak started in the early hours of Thursday due to a power upsurge.

10. The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation after the body of 17-year-old Adeolu Olubade was found buried in a shallow grave inside an apartment on Jesus Assembly Omoguwa Street, in the Ejigbo area of the state. It was learnt on Thursday that a 30-year-old suspect. (name withheld) linked to the crime had been arrested and detained by the police command.
