Bayo Dosunmu, a Nigerian-British born London council boss, has resigned after being charged with a number of driving and drug offences.
Lambeth Council has also confirmed Dosunmu would step down as chief executive on July 15.
BBC reports that Dosunmu, who is the chief executive of Lambeth council, was arrested in the Westminster area on 23 June after allegedly failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
According to the report, the 46-year-old has also been charged with possession of a class A controlled drug, driving over the alcohol limit, and driving without insurance.
Dosunmu is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 1.
He was appointed chief executive of the council in April 2022, and was previously the council’s deputy chief executive and strategic director for resident services.
