Nigerian Air Force officer receives sword of honour in UK college

A Nigerian Air Force, NAF officer, Flying Officer David Sangokoya, has been awarded the prestigious International Sword of Honour for 2023 at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell (RAFCC) in the United Kingdom.

This was announced in a statement shared on Facebook by the Nigerian Air Force on Friday, titled “NAF Officer Awarded 2023 International Sword of Honour at RAF College Cranwell UK.”

Flying Officer Sangokoya, who attended the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training (MIOT) Course 22 from March to September 2023, was recognized as the Best International Cadet of the Year.

The award is presented annually to the most outstanding international cadet among those who complete the RAFCC’s courses, which graduate up to eight classes each year.

The Sword of Honour was presented to Sangokoya by His Royal Highness, Prince William, on behalf of King Charles III, during the Royal Graduation ceremony held on September 12, 2024.

Reacting to the officer’s achievement, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, congratulated Flying Officer Sangokoya, praising his dedication and hard work.

“This prestigious recognition is a testament to the officer’s focus and commitment throughout his training,” Abubakar said, adding that the NAF is proud of this accomplishment, which brings honour to both the Air Force and Nigeria.

Air Marshal Abubakar also acknowledged the role of Sangokoya’s family in his success, applauding their unwavering support and encouragement.
