Nigeria Army reacts to informants’ refusal to cooperate with troops in Zamfara

The 1 Brigade of the Nigeria Army stationed in Gusau, Zamfara State capital has vowed that the banditry era in the northwest zone will soon come to an end.

Speaking with journalists in Gusau, the Commandant, Brigadier General Ajose vowed that the elimination of dreaded bandits’ leaders is at hand.

“We in the military formation have designed formidable strategies to end banditry because it has become a teething problem to the masses”, he lamented.

He noted that military operatives have been mounted at strategic locations on the Gusau-Funtua highway to check the rampant kidnapping of travellers along that axis.

“I am assuring the general public that the constant news of kidnappings along the road will no longer occur because our men are fully ready for the kidnappers”

He further stated that the troops of the military were very ready to battle the bandits on operation fire for fire, assuring that, the battle would soon come to an end.

He, however, appealed to members of the communities to assist the military and other security agencies with useful information to tackle the terrorists.

“We are not against the members of the communities but we are against the bad eggs aiding bandits in the communities”

“No one can imagine why the security operatives will be protecting villagers while some individuals will be frustrating their efforts”

“We are calling on the informants to allow us do our work as professionals. We are not begging anybody, but we don’t want to shed innocent blood”
