The Niger State Internal Revenue Service, NSIRS, said it has intensified efforts to crack down and arrest individuals involved in the illegal production and sale of counterfeit motor vehicle stickers and emblems across the state.
Revenue officials, including a director in Bosso and Paikoro local government areas of the State, have been arrested by NSIRS for allegedly producing and selling their personal emblems and stickers to the public.
Mohammed Etsu Madami, the chairman of the NSIRS, explained on Friday that the activities of the suspected revenue officials violated Section 32 (3), (4), and (6) of the Niger State Tax Administration and Consolidation Law, 2022.
According to him, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed his administration’s zero-tolerance for corruption and warned that anyone found involved in illegal revenue collection or illegal production and distribution of government documents will be made to face the law.
