Niger Assembly decries overdependence on federal allocation

The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, has decried the overdependence of the state on the federal government for revenue.

The Speaker stated this during plenary at the legislative chamber in Minna.

According to him: “God has blessed us in Niger State. We should not in any way be so poor and dependent almost totally on federation allocation and international donor agencies to survive.”

Lamenting the current economic hardship faced by Nigerians, he noted the need for representatives to get close to their constituencies and get their feelings.

He added: “Because that is the only way we can address their challenges in order to improve their standard of living. The country is going through its worst economic crisis in history as a nation and Nigerians are going through a really hard time.
