Niger Acting Gov makes broadcast, thanks residents for ‘restraint’ during protests

Niger State Acting Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba has applauded all stakeholders and residents of the state for restraining themselves from active participation in the recent nationwide hunger and hardship protests.

The acting governor, in a broadcast to the people of the state on the aftermath of the nationwide protests, said the stakeholders and residents are the driving force behind the state’s progress.

“Your commitment to unity, mutual respect, and constructive dialogue is not just commendable, but it is the very essence of our collective dedication to the progress and development of Niger State.

“Dialogue and understanding are the cornerstones of resolving conflicts and advancing the development of our state,” he said.

Garba also commended the Commissioner of Police, the heads of other security agencies, and the vigilante group, for their relentless efforts and sacrifices to ensure the safety and stability of communities during the period.

“Your dedication has been vital in maintaining the collective resolve of our people.

“I also extend my sincere thanks to the media and all practising journalists in Niger State. Your tireless work in promoting our government’s initiatives has been instrumental in our quest to accelerate the state’s growth and development.”

He reassured the residents of the government’s willingness and eagerness to convey their feelings, concerns, and aspirations to President Bola Tinubu.

“Your voices matter, and we will ensure that they are heard and that your interests are represented at the national level.

“We will not hesitate to engage with the Federal Government to address the challenges facing our state and nation,” the acting governor said.

He, however, condemned the violence that occurred during the protest in Tafa LGA, resulting in the loss of properties, despite a town hall meeting with stakeholders where they unanimously decided against participating in the nationwide protest.
