NFF, FG pick Nigerian coach to take over Super Eagles after Peseiro’s exit

The Nigerian government and football stakeholders are pushing for a domestic coach to take over the national team.

This follows the expiration of Jose Peseiro’s contract on February 29.

It is understood that Peseiro and the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, were locked in talks over an extension.

But the federation refused to offer the 63-year-old a $120,000-per-month contract he is asking for.

Peseiro signed a short-term deal worth $50,000 a month before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

DAILY POST has now gathered that top officials are favouring ex-international, Emmanuel Amunike, to replace him.

Amunike is set to have met with government and football stakeholders.

The ex-internationals are also pushing for a domestic coach to take over from Peseiro and Amunike is their candidate.
