NCP okays 2024 work plan for BPE

The National Council on Privatisation, NCP, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, has approved the 2024 work plan of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE.

Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and National Planning, disclosed this during a press conference following the council’s inaugural meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Bagudu also announced that the council has authorised four standing committees comprised of both public and private sector representatives.

The minister said: “Today, the first National Council of Privatisation meeting under the reconstituted council chaired by His Excellency Vice President Kashim Shettima took place.

“The meeting was held with the Vice Chairman of the Council being the Coordinating Minister of Economy as well as members from both the private and public sectors.

“The council deliberated and approved four standing committees of the council as well as the work plan for 2024 for the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE).

“The chairman of the council noted with satisfaction the tremendous efforts that the management and staff of the BPE have put into the documents for the council meeting.”

Bagudu stated that the council would make choices to improve the efficiency of the Nigerian public business sector, which would be pursued with renewed zeal.

Shettima inaugurated the newly-formed NCP members on Friday to work towards the realisation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Shettima also urged them to resist the way things were done in the past to pave the road for economic growth that was in line with the President’s expectations.
