NASU/SSANU received one month out of four months withheld salaries – Olushola

Only one month out of the four months of withheld salaries for members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) was paid by the Federal Government on Friday.

This is contrary to the government’s announcement claiming that the withheld salaries had been fully paid.

Chairman of SSANU, University of Ilorin branch, Falowo Olushola, declared this in a phone chat with DAILY POST on Saturday.

Falowo explained that the union members were expecting payment of 50 percent of the four months of withheld salaries, which translates to two months, rather than just one month.

“We started receiving our alerts on Friday, reflecting one month out of the 50 percent promised,” he stated.

He added, “The strike action by the two unions will continue until their demands are fully met, unless there is a counter directive from the national headquarters of the unions.”

He frowned at the government’s attitude toward the implementation of the presidential order, which directed that the withheld salaries be paid since last year.
