Man knocked down by hit-and-run driver dies in Ogun FMC

An unknown man knocked down by a hit-and-run driver has died at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The Ogun FMC Head of Public Relations and Information, Segun Orisajo, said the man was taken to the hospital by some policemen.

The driver had hit the victim and fled at Tekobo Junction, opposite Ogun State International Montessori School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, on Friday.

In a statement on Saturday, Orisajo said the victim died shortly after he was brought into the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta by some policemen from Kemta.

Orisajo said the identity of the victim is still unknown and called on anyone who may have a missing relative to contact the hospital’s morgue for a possible identification of the deceased.

“The attention of the general public is hereby drawn to a case of a yet-to-be-identified man who was knocked down by a hit-and-run driver at Tekobo Junction, opposite Ogun State International Montessori School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, yesterday (Friday).

“The victim was rushed to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta by some policemen from Kemta but shortly after, he was certified dead by medical personnel.

“The identity of the man in question is still unknown, as there was nothing on him that could have assisted in identifying him or his relatives.

“The general public who may have a missing relative should contact the hospital morgue for a possible identification of the deceased.”
