The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two men, Abubakar Ibrahim and Isah Ayuba, over the abduction and subsequent killing of one Felicia Namkywa, a petty trader.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel said in a statement on Sunday that the arrest was carried out by police detectives attached to the Obi Division.
According to the PPRO, the arrest was sequel to a complaint lodged at Obi Divisional Police Headquarters indicating that the trader was missing for days, and all efforts to trace her whereabouts proved abortive.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was lured via phone call by one of the suspects who was owing the trader the sum of N40,000. He reportedly beckoned on her to come and purchase grains in one of the Fulani settlements (Ruga) of the area.
“Unknown to her there was a sinister plan to take her life and dispossess her of her business capital,” the police spokesman said.
He added that the suspects upon interrogation confessed to having lured and abducted the victim, took her deep into the forest where she was strangled to death.
The PPRO said the suspects dumped the remains of the lady in a swamp, and took away the sum of N555,000 found on the victim.
Upon their arrest, the suspects led police operatives to the scene where the decayed remains of the victim were recovered.
