Ex-Premier League referee, Mike Dean, has claimed Manchester City winger, Jeremy Doku was “very fortunate” not to give away a late penalty in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.
Doku appeared to catch Alexis Mac Allister in the chest in the dying moments at Anfield.
However, referee Michael Oliver waved away the appeals and VAR agreed with the on-field decision.
Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, claimed the Belgian was a “lucky boy” as he watched back replays of the incident on Sky Sports.
Dean felt “it could be a penalty” on first viewing.
He said: “I can’t think he’s touched the ball, Doku, and the follow through – he’s caught him right in the chest.
“For me, it could be a penalty.
“It’s a massive decision by the VAR, he’s got a tiny touch on the ball with the follow through full on the ribcage.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Stuart [Attwell] sends Michael Oliver to the screen.”
