Kwara varsity of education gets Vice Chancellor

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed Prof. Medinat Folorunsho Salman, as the pioneer Acting Vice Chancellor of the newly established Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED) Ilorin.

A professor of mathematics education, she was until the appointment a senior lecturer at the department of science education and coordinator of the Educational Technology Centre, at the University of Ilorin.

Folorunsho Salman had her Bachelor of Education from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1985, a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education at the University of Ilorin in 1990 and a doctoral degree in Mathematics Education from University of Ilorin in 1998.

She is the first female professor from Ilorin Emirate.

Her research interests are mathematics education, gender issues in mathematics and science education, and innovation in mathematics education in the developing world.

The appointment is with immediate effect, according to a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye in Ilorin on Tuesday.
