Kwara State independent electoral commission, KWSIEC, has released the timetable for local councils poll fixed for September 21, 2024 in the 16 local government areas of the state.
A statement by the chairman of the commission, Muhammed Baba Okanla, in Ilorin on Sunday, said a meeting/interface with all the registered political parties leadership will hold on Friday, June 21, 2024, followed by political parties’ primaries elections on Monday, June 24th – 30th, 2024.
According to the chairman, political parties are to obtain and return nomination forms, KWSIEC 01 and KWSIEC 02, for chairmanship and councilorship elections on Monday July 1st – 5th July, 2024, while verification of candidates’ credentials is scheduled for Monday 8th-Friday 19th July, 2024.
“Display of names of Candidates Nominated by Political Parties to be posted on KWSIEC notice board: Monday July 22nd – Friday 26th, 2024.
“Training of ad-hoc staff in all the three senatorial districts takes place from Saturday July 27th – Wednesday July 31st, 2024,” Muhammed added.
He said, “Last day for withdrawal of candidates (if need be) is Monday August 5th, 2024, while the last day for publication of the list of nominated candidates is Tuesday, August 6th, 2024.”
The chairman further disclosed that political parties’ campaigns will start on Monday, August 19th and end on the midnight of Thursday 19th September, 2024, with elections for chairmanship and councilorship positions holding on September 21, 2024.
“Collection of Certificate of Returns will hold on Monday September 23rd, 2024,” he said.
