Kwara police confirm release of four kidnap victims

The Kwara State police command, has confirmed the release of four persons abducted on Tuesday night at Afin village of Ilere district, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

The four victims comprising a high chief, Simon Ibiwoye, the Olukotun of Afin community and three teenagers were reportedly released in the early hours of Thursday according to reports reaching DAILY POST.

The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, who confirmed the development, disclosed that “they were left alone to find their way.

“Luckily, the local hunters were able to find them and took them back to the village to reunite with their families.

“All the freed victims are in good health condition,” the police spokesperson added.

Recall that after their abduction, the Kabiyesi of the community reached out to the police and a team of other security personnel, including soldiers and local hunters.

Three suspected informants linked to the armed kidnappers were subsequently arrested in the bush, whisked and handed over to the anti-kidnapping unit of the state police command.

A phone was recovered from which a video of the suspected armed kidnappers was viewed.
