Kogi govt to appoint new Ohinoyi of Ebira land next week

The Kogi State Government has said it would announce a designate to assume the vacant stool of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland next week.

DAILY POST gathered that the stool has been vacant following the demise of the late Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Ibrahim.

The revered monarch had passed away in November 2023 at the age of 94.

The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello disclosed this weekend when he met with aspirants recommended by the Kingmakers committee in Kogi Central.

The committee had recommended seven aspirants to the state government, from whom one would be appointed to take the stool.

The aspirants include the former Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Philip Salawu; former Clerk of the National Assembly, Barrister Ataba Sani Omolori; Gen. Yusuf Abubakar Amuda.

Others are Barr. Momoh Shaibu, Prof. Ibrahim Onuwe Abdulmalik, HRH Dr. Ahmad Tijani Anaje and Mr. Ahmed Momohjimoh.

In his remarks, Governor Bello appealed to the aspirants vying for the number one traditional seat in Kogi Central Senatorial District to support whoever is appointed by the government, as they were all qualified.

Governor Bello, however, cautioned against divisive statements and actions capable of disrupting the peace of the land.
