Katsina Police Commissioner meets NLC ahead of protest

In an effort to ensure a peaceful protest, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, met with representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on Monday.

The meeting focused on developing strategies and measures to guarantee a safe and orderly protest, while upholding the rights of all those involved. Both parties emphasised the importance of conducting the protest peacefully and lawfully to effectively convey their message while respecting human rights.

In a statement issued by ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the command’s spokesperson, the Police Commissioner reaffirmed the citizens’ right to protest and assured NLC representatives that the police command is committed to protecting that right.

He further pledged the command’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for peaceful demonstrations, emphasising the importance of open communication and adherence to agreed-upon guidelines.

The NLC representatives expressed appreciation to the CP for his continued support and dedication to fostering a climate of understanding and collaboration for the benefit of all stakeholders involved.
