As part of efforts to protect the environment and reclaim public property, the Katsina State Government has ordered the immediate vacation of illegally allocated forestland.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, acting on the recommendations of an investigative committee, has taken decisive action to address the widespread issue of sensitive and strategic forest areas being handed out as farmlands.
The development is contained in a press release issued by Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, the Director of Press, Office of the Secretary to the Katsina State Government.
According to the statement, individuals currently occupying illegally allocated lands are advised to vacate immediately to avoid any further complications and ensure a smooth transition.
The statement reminded the public that only Governor Radda has the authority to approve the allocation of government forest lands and urban areas within Katsina State.
To that effect, a new committee has been formed to oversee the implementation of these recommendations.
The Katsina State Government subsequently urged all residents to take note of the directive and refrain from any unauthorised land acquisition.
