Kano Pillars: ‘We’re grooming some boys to take over from Rabiu Ali’  – Maikaba

Kano Pillars head coach Abdulahi Maikaba has hinted that club legend Rabiu Ali may retire at the end of the 2023-24 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Maikaba said the club have already started grooming players that will replace Ali in the team.

The 43-year-old midfielder, Rabiu Ali, has played in all seven of Sai Masu Gida’s NPFL fixtures this season and has scored two goals.

He has been a pivotal figure for Kano Pillars since joining the club in 2009, scoring over 100 goals.

When asked about Ali’s future in the top-flight league, Maikaba told DAILY POST, “Maybe after this season.

“We will start thinking of [his retirement], we are grooming some boys to take over from him.”
