Kano CP solicits support of state assembly

Police authorities have solicited the support and cooperation of the Kano State House of Assembly in overcoming the security challenges in the state.

Commissioner of Police Mohammed Usaini Gumel made the call during his courtesy visit to the Kano State House of Assembly on Tuesday.

According to him: “The Kano State House of Assembly plays a vital role in the legislative affairs of the security governance of the state. It’s through your legislative efforts in enacting laws and policies that society is shaped for the promotion of its well-being.

“Maintaining law and order is indeed a shared responsibility that requires everyone’s active involvement. In this regard, the Kano Police Command has recognised this fact, which is why it considered it necessary to visit the House and meet with the esteemed legislators, who are the representatives of the people, to chart the way for stronger partnerships and ways for implementing community policing strategies for a safer society in the state.

“By doing this, together we can make Kano State a beacon of peace, security, development, and prosperity.”

CP Gumel also said police personnel require operational vehicles and relevant protection gear to effectively police all local government areas of the state.

“At this juncture, I want to particularly appeal for the intervention of this Honourable House to change the narrative by reflecting on the current reality,” he said.
