Jigawa: Why opposition parties opted out of local government elections – SSG

The Jigawa State Government has said the All Progressives Congress, APC’s widespread influence and performance in delivering democratic dividends weakened the opposition parties from participating in the local Government elections.

Secretary to the State Government, Bala Ibrahim, disclosed this while commenting on the conduct of the election after casting his vote at Gurzawa 042 in Birninkudu local Government area.

He explained that, significant strides in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and rural development have cemented the APC’s place in the hearts of the electorate, making it nearly impossible for the opposition to gain a foothold”

According to him, “Since the coming of APC in 2025, the party is getting stronger and stronger winning all the elections conducted including the National elections and state elections.

“These is weakened the oppositions parties to participate because they Jigawa is for APC and they will not win even a single seat.”

Commenting on the conduct of the election, the SSG expressed his satisfaction with the process of the exercise.

DAILY POST reported that the oppositions parties have challenged Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission, JISIEC, for making the price of nomination form higher.
