Jigawa LG Poll: Voting begins amid low turnout

Election has commenced with voters low turnout in most of the polling units across the Jigawa State.

In most of the polling units monitored by DAILY POST only election officials and few voters were seen in the voting centre.

Election officers and sensitive materials arrived early and the election started at 8:00AM at some poling units especially at headquarters 27 local governments.

While in some villages and hard to reach areas, the election materials didn’t arrived in time and election commence after 09:00am.

In Birninkudu local Government at
Lambun Faira 442 poling units the election commenced at 09:15am with few voters in the centre.

While at View centre 004 in Birninkudu local Government election officials were on ground as of 9:00am.

A voter at one of the polling units said, the low turnout of voters may not be unconnected with fact that the opposition parties didn’t participated in the elections in the local Government.

Commenting on the election after casting his vote at view centre 004 poling units, State Attorney General Bello Abdulkadir Fanini expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the election.
