The Jigawa State Government has constituted and inaugurated a 27-member Farmers-Herders Peace Committee in Dutse Local Government Area.
This was contained in a statement issued to journalists by Ismail Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
According to the statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Bala Ibrahim Mamsa, the committee was inaugurated as part of the efforts of the state government and its commitment to mitigate clashes between farmers and herders in Baranda village and its neighbours for greater productivity in crop and livestock agriculture.

“For fairness and equity, all interested stakeholders are included in the committee, including traditional rulers, imams, herdsmen, farmers, security outfits and others,” Mamsa said.
He urged the committee members to be fair and just in discharging their responsibility and to justify the trust and confidence reposed in them while praying for their success.
“Let me assure all the citizens of the affected communities that the committee, which is headed by the District Head of Dutse, Alhaji Jamilu Basiru Sanusi, will be just in making peace between farmers and herders in the area,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the committee members, the chairman of the committee, who is also the district head of Dutse and Turakin Dutse, Alhaji Jamilu Basiru Sanusi, expressed delight for the appointment and pledged to give their best and justify the confidence reposed in them.
