IWD: Nigerian democracy can’t make progress without women – Monarch

A female monarch, Her Highness, Etieka Henrietta Efa Akpera has asserted that the Nigerian political system cannot make good progress until women are given ample opportunity to take part in politics.

Her comments come ahead of the 2024 International Women’s Day, IWD, celebration.

Akpera who is the village head of Aka Efa in the Calabar Municipality in Cross River State, insisted that women should be allowed to take part in policy-making and political leadership of states and country.

She also argued strongly against the notion that women are usually more corrupt in government than men.

“It is not true that women are more corrupt than men. On the contrary, research has proven that women are more honest and great-minded than men when it comes to public leadership

“Women are easily accused of corruption because they are not close to power. Theirs is not up to the irregularity done by the male counterpart.
