The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman has solicited the support of traditional rulers to ensure adequate community policing and a better societal approach to internal security in the state.
CP Danmamman stated this during a familiarization visit to the Emir of Minna, HRH Alh. Dr. Umar Farouk Bahago in Minna, the state capital.
He explained that one key institution that is fundamental to partner with the security agencies, particularly the Police, is the traditional institution
The CP said,” The Command wishes to leverage the Emir’s influence, spread, authority and the respect accorded to His Highness’s office to help in Policing the people”.
According to him, the dynamics of crime have changed over time, therefore all hands must be on deck, from both the state actors and non-state actors in securing the state.
The commissioner noted that being the lead internal security agency, the Police need every iota of assistance, partnership and cooperation to succeed in providing internal security for our land.
Danmamman then reaffirmed the commitment of the Command to fight crime and the loyalty to the constitution and service to the fatherland, as well as the respect for the traditional and cultural background toward ensuring a safer community.
Responding, the Emir of Minna, Alh. Farouk Bahago assured the CP of his support and maximum cooperation while commending previous Commissioners of Police in the State for a cordial relationship and assured of sustainability.
