The 30 motorcycles donated to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike have been deployed to rural areas.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The statement revealed that FCT, Commissioner of Police, Benneth C. Igweh is deploying the motorcycles alongside personnel across the rural areas in the nation in a bid to tackle banditry and other forms of security challenges facing the territory.
DAILY POST recalls that Wike recently donated 30 motorcycles to ensure the security and safety of FCT residents.
The Minister asked that the motorcycles not be limited to the metropolis but extended to remote communities in the nation’s capital where bandits and kidnappers have recently turned to hideouts.
According to the command, the deployment of the motorcycles, painted police colours, was made to aid in swift operational response to communities and areas where vehicles may not easily assess or navigate when the need arises.
“While extending heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Minister, FCT, the Commissioner of Police promises to effectively utilize this equipment towards ensuring the safety and security of the residents of FCT”, the PPRO added.
