In a statement by the Public Relations officer of the Command ASP Okoye Henry, the gang were involved in cultism-related activities when the police busted their hideouts.
“The arrest of the suspects was sequel to an intelligence-led raid on a suspected criminal hideout at Irete in Owerri West LGA of Imo State, by operatives of the Command on routine confidence-building patrol. Recovered from these suspects include; One locally made single barrel pistol, two rounds of live cartridges, and other incriminating items,” he said.
The suspects who were paraded at the Command headquarters are still under custody.
The Police say investigations into their activities have been initiated to apprehend other members of the gang and the manufacturer or dealers of the locally made gun.
“The suspects will be arraigned in court upon completion of the investigation,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner has advised parents and guardians to caution their wards against indulging in cultism and other criminal acts.
