Imo govt plans to reinstate Obi as Heartland coach

The Imo State government has concluded plans to reinstate Christian Obi as head coach of Nigeria Premier Football League side Heartland.

According to reports emanating from Owerri, the decision was made in a meeting with the state commissioner for sports, Hon Emeka Okoronkwo and the government officials.

Obi was sacked last month following Heartland’s poor start to the 2023/24 NPFL season.

The Naze Millionaires failed to record a win in nine league games under his tutelage.

He was replaced at the helm by former Plateau United and Akwa United gaffer, Kennedy Boboye.

The Owerri club have recorded two wins, one draw and three defeats in six games since Boboye’s appointment.
