President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has charged Muslim faithful in the country and in the Diaspora to be inspired by Prophet Muhammad’s virtues of harmony, love, and service to humanity as they celebrate his birthday.
Akpabio made the call in a message to celebrate Muslims on the feast of Eid el Maulud, signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.
“Distinguished Muslim brothers and sisters, on behalf of my family, constituents, and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I extend warm felicitations to you all on the occasion of Eid el Maulud, the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
“As you celebrate this important Muslim feast, I pray that this auspicious day brings peace, joy, and blessings to our great nation and the world at large.
“I enjoin you to imbibe the teachings of the Holy Prophet and be inspired to live in harmony, love, and service to humanity.
“Wishing you all a happy and blessed Eid el Maulud celebration,” the Senate President stated.
Similarly, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has described the birth of Prophet Muhammad as a mercy to mankind.
Speaking on this year’s Eid el Maulud celebration in Ilorin, the state capital, the governor said Prophet Muhammad’s prophethood offered unique guidance and blessings to the world.
He thanked Allah for His mercies upon Muslims and the light that Islam represents for the human community.
Governor Abdulrazaq further asked Allah to expand His blessings upon Prophet Muhammad, his household, his companions, and all of us.
“On this day and always, we should reflect upon the power of Allah to fulfill His promises to mankind and our obligation to follow His guidance.
“We saw in the birth and rise of Prophet Muhammad an important lesson about how God can protect and lead us to our destiny against all odds.
“Despite being an orphan and surrounded by hostile confederates of non-believers, the Prophet attained his destiny and discharged his message to the world without blemish.
“This is a lesson for everyone, especially those who may find themselves in different phases of life. With sincere faith and reliance on Allah, hard work, adherence to communal values, and consistency, we can face any condition and emerge victorious and stronger,” he added.
Governor Abdulrazaq asked Allah to forgive our sins, bless our Emir, our communities, and our nation, and grant us ease.
