Abia State governor, Alex Otti, has said that the doors of the Labour Party, LP, would not be closed against the members of the opposition party who are wishing to cross the carpet.
Otti, who stated this at Abia State Government House, Umuahia, during his media chat with Abia people, said that a political party is like a church where you cannot stop somebody who has come to worship from entering.
He, however, made it clear that the good governance presently going on in the state cannot be changed or affected by the entrance of people from the opposition parties.
He also disclosed that he has been utilising security votes to secure the state in line with his campaign promises.
Otti, who said that the costs of maintaining the lives and safety of Abia residents have been financially high, disclosed that the leader of a kidnapping gang that abducted a professor was arrested at Murtala Mohammed Airport while he was trying to escape overseas.
He added that another member of the kidnapping team was nabbed in Port Harcourt, saying that the special efforts of the Operation Crush security team set up by his administration are yielding the desired results in rooting out criminals.
Otti further expressed joy that pensioners in the state who were owed for many years have received their pensions.
