I was born in Denmark – Arsenal’s Obi-Martin chooses national team to play for

Highly-rated Arsenal striker Chidozie Obi-Martin has made the choice of the national team he would play for at senior level of international football.

The Arsenal youth team star has decided to remain with Denmark, where he is already playing in the U17.

Obi-Martin was born in Glostrup, Denmark to Nigerian parents and is provisionally cap-tied to the Danish national team having played competitive matches for the U17 squad.

However, the youngster is still eligible to play for the three-time Africa champions and Three Lions of England.

Obi-Martin said he hopes to make his senior debut for Denmark and have a successful international career with them.

“I was born in Denmark, I have better friends in Denmark and I’m just really happy to play for Denmark,” Obi-Martin told bold.dk.

“In Denmark, I have better teammates. It is easier to speak the language because I have lived longer in Denmark, so it just makes better sense.

“I hope to be able to play in the Danish national team for a long time, so I hope it’s just Denmark.

“My dream is to win big things, for a long time I have dreamed of winning the European Championship or World Cup with Denmark, so it will be great.”
