Health, education get lion share in Bauchi’s 2025 budget

Bauchi State Government has prioritised health and education in its N465 billion 2025 budget, allocating the largest shares of 15.08% and 15.04% respectively, to enhance healthcare services and improve educational development across the state.

Giving a breakdown of the budget on Friday, the State Commissioner for Budget, Aminu Hammayo, explained that N70.228 billion is set aside for healthcare to improve services and ensure a healthier society.

He said education will get N39.133 billion for the Ministry of Education and N30.8 billion for Higher Education.

Aminu also explained that the recurrent expenditure of the state was increased in the 2025 budget estimate to pave the way for the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage and the contributory pension scheme.

According to the commissioner, the recurrent expenditure is made up of personnel cost amounting to N69,995,477,83.47 Kobo, representing 39.3% which he said is higher than that of the 2024 while capital expenditure received the sum of N282,341,322,385.52 which represents 60.7%.

Other sectors, like agriculture and transportation, received N219.5 billion, while administration-related activities got N69.94 billion.

The social sector, which includes health and education, has a total allocation of N166.98 billion.

Governor Bala Mohammed had presented the budget to the State Assembly on Thursday, assuring that his administration will focus on improving lives and boosting development.
