Guinness World Record attempt: COOPA pledges support for Mighty George 

The Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State (COOPA), has thrown its weight behind ace broadcaster, George Iniabasi Essien, on his Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Radio Talk Show (100 hours).

Speaking in Uyo, on Thursday, the Chancellor of COOPA, Mr. Utitofon Morgan, commended

Mr George Essien, popularly known as Mighty George, for his courage, assuring that the Coalition will help push his vision.

“This is a very noble attempt and it takes so much courage to do this. You have my word that COOPA is solidly behind you, because this will not only be a feat for you and Comfort Fm, but also Akwa Ibom”, he said.

On his part, George Essien announced that everything has been put in place to ensure the success of the attempt.

On whether he is physically fit for the task ahead, he said; “I’m actually prepared for this. I’ve been able to streamline my intake in terms of food, in terms of beverage consumption. I’ve been taking regular exercises and shorten my sleep just to get ready for these sleepless nights”, he said.

He appreciated Akwa Ibom people, as well his colleagues in the media for their support and opined for more of such support to serve as a motivation and to help him succeed.

The longest marathon hosting a radio talk show is 88 hours, and was achieved by Taishi Masuoka (Japan) at the Osaka Matsubara Internet Broadcasting radio station in Matsubara, Osaka, Japan, from 24 to 27 August 2017.

Tagged “Radio Record Rush”, the Guinness World Record attempt begins on Sunday 27th April, through Thursday, 1st May, 2025, at the Comfort Fm premises in Uyo.
