Group rejects consensus PDP chairmanship candidate in Kogi

A group, Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Youth Frontier, has rejected Mona Anyebe as the consensus chairmanship candidate of the party in the state.

The group, in a statement signed by the President, Umar Francis on Saturday in Lokoja, maintained that the chairman must emerge from among the interested candidates screened by the committee.

Francis said, “Any individual who didn’t undergo this process cannot stand to benefit from it.

“Come to think of it, a petition was written and forwarded to the state caretaker committee and the national headquarters of the party with evidence attached to it that Mr Mona Anyebe was suspended from his Ogugu Ward in Olamaboro Local Government for anti-party activities, signed by all the wards executives, not even one was in his favor. This mater wasn’t addressed.

“And at the floor of the delegate meeting in Lokoja on Monday 29th April, 2024, the elders committee report was generally rejected for so many reasons. PDP state chairman is not a piece of cake which one can dash out to an outsider who is not equipped mentally and physically for the assignment, coupled with the testimony reports from his ward executives.

“If the former governor’s, Alh. Ibrahim Idris and Capt. Idris Wada, couldn’t or will not be able to come to terms as it concerns Capt. Joe Agada and Hon. Tony Amego, then they should meet at the ring, rather than letting in a new person from Olamaboro Local Government who has a lot of baggage on him.”

Francis admonished leaders of the party to provide a level playing ground on the day of the election for party delegates to choose their next chairman in Kogi State.
